Barks & Recreation – Get To Know Us!

Addison: Daycare Attendant

Continuing our series of staff introductions we wanted to sit down with Addison, one of our Daycare Attendants! Addison is the calm to our storm of excitement around Barks & Rec. Above all, she’s great with the dogs. She also brings an amazing amount of knowledge to the team. Addison previously worked with exotic animals like tigers and other large cats at CARE Foundation!

Q: Where did you grow up? Tell us a little about it!

A: I grew up in a little town in Indiana called Fishers. We lived on a couple acre’s of land that was just woods so I would explore them all the time because there was nothing else to do. It was very peaceful, I loved it!

Q: What did you want to be growing up?

A: I wanted to be an animal rescue worker to save abused animals or animals in need! Or an Astronaut, whichever comes first.

Q: Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.

A: I am really into perma culture, which means completely living on your own land, growing your own food etc. I’ve traveled all over Florida helping other farmers with their land. I also learned perma culture from a Yale professor while working as a photographer. ALSO I worked for CARE Foundation who rescues wild animals like tigers and other large cats. Helping to take care of really exotic animals was exciting!

Q: What is your favorite book of all time?

A: The “Tibetan Book of the Dead”. It’s a non-fiction book about the beliefs of Buddhist monks and their practices and such. It’s very fascinating! Full of tidbits about the afterlife, reincarnation etc…

Q: If you could be anyone from any time period who would it be and why?

A: I would be a Native American Shaman pre-colonization because I love and respect their culture and want to learn how indigenous tribes lived!

Q: If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?

A: A boat, that’s all I would need… Just kidding!!! I would bring a knife, some sort of water filtration device, and a tent!

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

A: I like to go to Kava Bars, I really like Kayaking, and playing Video Games!

Q: Do you have a favorite quote?

A: “Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted.” – John Lennon

Q: If you were a dog, what breed would you be and why?

A: I would be a Tibetan Mastiff! They are so cute and FLUFFY!!!

Q: What are 3 words would you use to describe Barks & Rec?

A: Clean, Fun, & Barky

Q: What is the best thing about working with dogs each day?

A: It’s wonderful because I can’t be sad or mad. Im always happy cuddling and loving on these babies! I love them all!

Q: What is the funniest moment you’ve had working with the dogs at Barks & Rec?

A: I don’t have a specific moment but I just love watching them all run around playing they can be quite entertaining.
